The MICAT exam can be quite competitive and challenging, but you can ace this exam with the right preparation strategy. The exam comprises of six sections: Psychometric, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Divergent and Convergent Thinking, Verbal ability, Descriptive Test, and General Awareness. Descriptive Test:
This section comprises four questions, and the maximum time allowed is 35 minutes under MICAT exam pattern. The section analyses a candidate’s creativity, descriptive writing skills, and command over the language. The difficulty level of this section is often Moderate to Easy.

This section was not given any negative marking. Moreover, the candidates had to attempt all the questions in this section compulsorily. The difficulty level is moderate to easy.
Cut-off for MICAT exam
MICA does not require high cut-offs and instead expects potential candidates to be well-read, inventive, and clever, with an analytical thought process. To clear the MICAT cut-offs; practice in analytical and creative writing would be beneficial. The actual MICAT cut-offs are determined by a variety of criteria such as the candidate pool, the distribution of CAT and MICAT scores, and so on, which may vary from year to year. The sectional scores obtained by a candidate will be converted into a Scaled Score using a specific formula. The candidates will be shortlisted for the GE and PI rounds based on both the scores obtained in XAT/CAT/GMAT exams (50%) and the MICAT exam (50%). Hence, you must score high in the XAT/CAT/GMAT exam too.
Are MICAT scores normalized?
The score received by a candidate in a specific sub-section of the MICAT, such as General awareness, will be transformed into a Normalized Score. Scores must be standardized using proper statistical procedures, taking into account the scores of all eligible candidates up to the phase applicable to the candidate. Normalized scores will be computed independently for each sub-section. In addition, the total MICAT score would be normalized using acceptable statistical procedures.
